La Garnie & Around
In 1989 we bought a pile of rubble in France. Actually it was two piles of rubble and some friends bought the one that looked like a collapsing barn and we bought the one that seemed to be like a house. You couldn't see much of the gardens - they were three metres deep in brambles and stinging nettles - but we soon discovered that they also contained 100 years of junk too. Thus began a wonderful journey of reconstruction that continues to this day. Both properties are now 'comfortable', but we continue to change and improve - but most importantly to relax. La Garnie is a tiny village in Correze, France, just next door to the Dordogne. We have recorded the journey photographically but here is a selection of what the properties look like now and also some of the other villages in the region.
