Falkland Islands Chapel Memorial Service 2012
This year's Service of Remembrance took place on Sunday 17th June and marked the 30th anniversary of the conflict. The Chapel was filled to capacity and a tented extension running across the Pangbourne Parade Ground enabled many more to attend and take part in the Service fully with the aid of television screens and speakers. The service began with the sounding of "Eight Bells" on the Sir Galahad Bell, followed by the opening hymn and Bidding, given by The Reverend Neil Jeffers. The Act of Remembrance was led by Rear Admiral Jeremy Saunders and was followed by The Last Post, Lament and Reveille. This was followed by the presentation of The Elizabeth Cross to seven families by The Hon. Mrs Bayliss, Lord Lieutenant of The Royal County of Berkshire. Music throughout the service was glorious, thanks to the Brass Quintet of The Royal Marines, Organist Julian McNamara, Piper Keith Burton and The Pangbourne College Choir, directed by Jonathan Brown. The Address was given by The Right Reverend Stephen Venner, Bishop to The Forces and for the Falkand Islands. The service concluded with the singing of The National Anthem. Following this there were opportunities for veterans and families to renew old frienships whilst enjoying a buffet lunch at Drake Hall.
Please read the following before you rush to the photos - it will make life easier for you! All the photos are stored on my Cloud Drive, which is available 24/7 without any need to email or any contact. Although it is possible to access my Cloud Drive using a smartphone or an ipad, these will probably be relatively slow - a 'fast' computer is best. When you click the link below you will be taken to a folder called Falkland Islands Chapel 2012 Service and within this are around 200 photos. You will see two ways of viewing the photos, list and icon, icon is probably the best. Depending on your computer, it may be a little while before the thumbnails appear and if you are impatient you could click on The Slideshow where you will see a band of photos plus a larger selected image (low resolution). You can make a note of the images you wish to download. Then go to the thumbnail of an image you would like and right-click it (or click the little down arrow). You can then click on 'Download'. Depending on your computer, you will then get an option to open or save the image. Your computer's default may be a folder called, suprisingly, 'Downloads'. You would be better to use 'Save As' and put the image(s) into a named folder - Falklands Chapel Service 2012 perhaps?
